Sports Culture Center TAHTO
Experience the stories and joy of sports at TAHTO, located at the Olympic Stadium. The exhibitions at TAHTO allow you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, relive the peak moments of Finnish sports, and be inspired by incredible stories of our sports heroes. The new TAHTO Sports Adventure uniquely combines the joy of movement with sports culture. The interactive world built within the museum encourages and inspires children, youth, and adults to discover their own relationship with physical activity.
The Sports Museum first opened to the public at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in 1943. Today, the TAHTO Center for Sports and Physical Activity Culture houses not only exhibitions but also the national collection of Finnish sports and physical activity, which includes nearly 36,000 objects and 500,000 photographs. TAHTO also features a sports archive and library.
The completely renewed permanent exhibition, opened in October 2020, guides visitors from the Helsinki Olympics to the world of e-sports. In this informative and emotionally engaging exhibition, you can experience the bitter disappointment of defeat and the joy of victory. Sit in Finland's oldest chairlift, peek into the lockers of the changing rooms, and relive the highlights of the Helsinki Olympics while sitting on the benches of the Olympic Stadium. Also on display are the silver and brass torches from the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Designed by Aukusti Tuhka, the Helsinki torches are among the rarest Olympic torches, with only 22 made.
Welcome to TAHTO to be active, learn, and discover!
