Kamppi Chapel
Kamppi Chapel is a place for enjoying peace and quiet in the centre of Helsinki. It was opened to the public on 1 June 2012. Kamppi Chapel is a Christian, Evangelical Lutheran chapel. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet in this wooden chapel.
The chapel is intended for private silent moments in particular. The chapel hosts short prayer sessions, but there is no church service on Sundays. Concerts are occasionally held at the chapel. The chapel usually cannot be reserved for private events, such as weddings.
The internationally awarded architecture of the chapel represents innovative wood construction. The chapel was designed by architects Mikko Summanen, Kimmo Lintula and Niko Sirola from the Helsinki-based architecture office, K2S Architects. The most visually striking space is the 11.5-metre-tall chapel hall. This space, designed for silent moments, is consciously distanced from the busy surroundings.
Kamppi Chapel has no admission fee during January-May and September-December. Free with Helsinki Card June-August.
